Equipment

A few words about your equipment

hockey players have to deal with tons of it, and it is not always easy to take care of ....

we have seen it more than enough, and you know that sinking feeling, when you discover that you are lacking a crucial piece of it:
It's 10 min before face-off and you don't have a mouth guard, neck guard, skates, pants, helmet............., we've seen it all!
So, who is really responsible for this?
Your Mom? Your Dad?
You guessed it right!
It's you, the player, who has to make sure that you have all of your stuff in your bag and ready to go. After all, you know best, what fits you well, what has been broken or needs to be adjusted.
You don't want to let your team down, by not being able to go out on the ice, because you don't have all of your stuff.
So, make sure the night before the game or practice, that you have everything ready and in good condition to go.
..........and when you come back home from the rink, take care of your stuff as well:
Open your bag, air out your protective stuff and have your jerseys washed, sweaty equipment makes for a great breeding ground of all kinds of nasty bacteria,.........that's what really stinks in your hockey bag!

  • here is your checklist from the top down:

    Helmet

    Mouth Guard

    Neck Guard

    Chest Protector

    Elbow Guards

    Hockey Gloves

Athletic Supporter ( cup, jock strap)

    Garter

    Hockey Pants

    Shin Guards

    Hockey Socks

    Socks

    Skates

    Jerseys

    Sticks

    Hockey Tape

    Water Bottle

that is quite a lot to keep track of, we know, but it's important that you as a player take pride in having all of it at the ready, when you go to the rink.
Talking about pride, the pride of the organization you are playing for is your jersey; we don't want to see it on the locker room floor. When you take it off, put it on the bench, hang it up or put it in your bag.
After all it has not only your name on it, but ours as well.
One of the greatest players ever to play the game, Mark Messier, always made sure that no one in the locker room threw his jersey on the floor.
