Mission Statement

New York City's first and only Shomer Shabbos Hockey Organization.
founded in 1999 to establish the sport in the community and to encourage Yeshiva boys and girls to pick up a physically demanding activity and to promote heart and character growth as well as physical confidence, team spirit and sportsmanship.
In its tenth year of operation, the NyICECATS, a 501 (c) non for profit organization, sport 5 age divisions plus an Adult, over 30 program.
We are proud to say that we are the only program which has managed to integrate Jewish boys from very different backgrounds, our players hail from more than half a dozen different schools, from pure Yeshiva to Jewish Day Schools.
Over the past years we had the privilege to educate more than 250 youngsters and we are proud to state that the majority of those who have been with us will continue to play in some capacity.
While it is not our vision to produce a crop of pro hockey players, we take the sport serious and try to advance everyone in our program to their appropriate level.
We are using the sport as an educational tool to encourage team spirit and most of all to overcome and conquer personal limitations.
Our program has shown that non athletic children can advance to physically and mentally confident young adults through their mastering the disciplin of the sport of Ice Hockey.
We continue to grow and hope to have planted the seed of sportsmanship and excellence in these youngsters.
