IceCats stun Cyclones for season- inspiring comeback
It was one of those days (11/9) where the scoreboard moved like a roller coaster and the emotions followed right behind it.
The 12U white Cats struck first — Sam Sutton on the power play from Matan Braunstein, a picture-perfect start. Yet the Cyclones answered off a turnover, then threaded a breakaway behind the D and roofed it. Suddenly it was 2–1 after one, and you felt the frustration brewing.
Tie game. The puck pops out, the Cyclones try to sneak a change, and that’s all the window Ariel Tuvia needs. Speed for days, catches the D flat-footed, rolls downhill on a 1-on-1, and absolutely snipes five-hole from the right circle. 2–2. Then a Jesselson snipe off faceoff gave Icecats the 3-2 lead.
But turnovers biting and it was 5-3 Cyclones in an eye blink. So Coach Elie Sutton did what great coaches do — he burned the timeout, stepped into the huddle, and flat-out challenged his boys. And the IceCats responded instantly.
Goal right off the center-ice faceoff from Jessolson made things 5–4.
Then the Cats tied it — Sammy Sutton again, throwing a puck on net because that’s what winners do: when it’s late and it’s messy, put it on goal and let hockey take care of the rest.
5–5, and the bench is alive again. As the tilt reached its climax, Eli Tantleef delivered two monster stops between the pipes, leading into the moment every comeback script needs.
Cyclones try to break out… nope. Forced turnover. Puck to the slot. Buried.
Ariel Tuvia again with the dagger. 6–5 IceCats, with 1:11 left, which would be your final. The boys closed it out from there, sealing one of the gutsiest wins the Peewee Minors have ever put together.
