The New York Icecats Program was founded in 1999 by a parent coach, the enthusiastic David Stern, as a not-for-profit youth hockey organization. The goal was to provide a meaningful hockey experience to children from Sabbath observant families that cannot play or practice hockey on Saturdays. The program started as a pure learn-to-skate Sunday session and over time developed into an organization that accommodates children of every age, skill level and religious background. Our teams have competed successfully at the Lasker Rink, Riverbank, Chelsea Piers and Icehouse leagues and tournaments.
Lasker Rink in Central Park is currently home for all divisions.
